The DaCapo Integrated Music Programme
Individual Lesson Singing Circle Ensembles
The DaCapo Integrated Music Programme follows the clear and progressive DaCapo curriculum. All sessions:
• are run by dedicated teachers who plan carefully and communicate the children’s achievements to each other to ensure progression from class to class
• are delivered with the same musical language, linked repertoire and order of progression
• involve all learning styles: auditory, read/write, visual and kinesthetic
• contain the learning of: pulse, pitch, rhythm, improvisation and composition, expressive elements, form and reading notation
The IMP also undertakes to:
• teach composition based on known materials and exploring elements that are being ‘learned’ (much as story writing is based on what children are learning about in their english lessons)
• include regular performances as a result of the learning and occasional ‘polished’ performances
• create a pressure free music teaching environment where every child's contribution is respected equally and every child has a voice.
