Charlotte Woodford

Charlotte Woodford grew up in London. From the age of 11 to 18 she attended the Centre for Young Musicians (CYM) and among other classes received one-to-one piano lessons with Graham Fitch, an incredible concert pianist and musician who sowed the seeds for a synaesthetic approach to music as well as a very deep understanding of how to work with and listen to musical timbre. She was also a cellist for the London Schools Symphony Orchestra (LSSO). After graduating from Birmingham University in Music and Philosophy, she began teaching the cello and piano. One of her piano pupils suggested she visit DaCapo. She was astonished at the possibilities it opened up for music teaching and deep fluency in music for everyone across the board. She trained and worked at DaCapo’s Saturday school and in primary schools with their schools’ programme. A few years break from music in her late twenties/early thirties has seen her move to Mid-Wales with her family in order to realise her dream of opening a retreat & music centre. She currently works as a community choir director, philosophical novelist and laughter yoga teacher. Charlotte runs weekend and week-long singing retreats combined with visual arts (bringing the colour of the music to life) alongside building a weekly programme of DaCapo Singing Circles to bring this incredible route into music to her local community.
