Flautist, music-theatre maker, music pedagogue
When Kata was 6 years old her musical journey started in the world famous Kodaly School (Kecskemet, Hungary) where she received well established musical education. This primary music school gave her the possibility to continue her flute studies in the Kodaly Secondary School. Singing and flute playing essentially lead to become a professional musician.
Kata finished her Bachelor (2011) and Masterís studies (2013) in the Conservatorium van Amsterdam. During her bachelor and master studies, she followed Marieke Schneemannís lessons and guidance into her professional music career. Her masterís years were essential to finding her direction and approach to contemporary music-theatre. Her repertoire is focused on contemporary compositions for flute, alto flute and piccolo. She is a remarkable physical performer and has great curiosity about making theatre and complex interdisciplinary performances.
Since 2013, she has worked with Jason Alder (clarinet, bass clarinet), together as Shadanga Duo. They have premiered several new compositions and participated in international festivals in Gent, Madrid, Camerino and Istanbul. Currently she lives in London and works as a freelance musician. Recently she joined DaCapo and teaches flute at Wren Academy and at the Saturday Family Music Centre.
