Melissa Favell-Wright

Melissa Favell-Wright is a professional musician and teacher. She graduated in 2002 from Colchester Institute with a 2:1 Honours degree in Music and then went on to study at postgraduate level at the Royal College of Music in London for two years. As a student, Melissa was the recipient of awards from the Royal Orchestral Society, Tom Acton Memorial Trust and Sir Thomas Middlecott’s Exhibition Foundation.

Melissa teaches double bass for DaCapo, Notting Hill Prep School, Colfe’s School and privately. Melissa also works as a tutor for Essex Music Services and coaches the double bass section of their youth orchestra. Other educational work includes participating in outreach DaCapo projects, leading Early Years music classes for pre-school children and teaching music at Handsworth Primary School in Waltham Forest. Melissa has also been involved in educational projects run by the London Symphony Orchestra and the Philharmonia.

In addition to teaching Melissa has a busy freelance career and regularly performs with the Royal Opera House Orchestra, English National Ballet, English National Opera, Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, Philharmonia, Royal Ballet Sinfonia, London Concert Orchestra, City of London Sinfonia, Britten Sinfonia and the Academy of St Martin in the Fields.

Melissa lives in London with her husband Rob and son Ethan.
