Rachel Groves
Rachel Groves has been teaching Double Bass and Early Years at DaCapo since leaving school in 1996. Prior to this she was herself a DaCapo pupil and then went on to study bass at the Royal College Junior Department (as DaCapo didn’t cater for older advanced students at that time) and then to study Music at Middlesex University.
Over the past eight years Rachel (now joined by Melissa Favell Wright) has worked on having a strong bass department at the Family Music Centre - an average of eight basses at any one time! - and also taught many of the Early Years sessions.
Rachel helped to developed the DaCapo Baby and Toddler music programme which has now been tried and tested in a variety of settings across London. Rachel contributed to the DaCapo toddler songbook in all stages of its development and has written and co-written several of the songs that you find in it.
Having enjoyed working in schools over the past fifteen years Rachel trained in Primary Education and is currently also working as a Year 2 teacher in Malorees Infant school in Brent.
Rachel has two young daughters who are now happy DaCapo pupils.
