While we're staying at home and learning remotely we caught up with DaCapo Principal Jane Cutler. We asked her a few questions so you can get to know her a little better.
This week's Café Concert is from our lovely student Neriah. Neriah is 7 and has been studying with us since he was a toddler. He has been learning the trumpet for just under 2 years, doing his one-to-one instrument lessons with Will, who accompanies him here.
Teaching, learning and performing music online is a new experience for us all. Creativity, innovation and technology mixed with lots of hard work have enabled us to keep making music together, even while we’re physically apart.
While we're in lockdown and learning remotely we'll be catching up with some of the DaCapo teachers and students so you can get to know them a little better.
As some of you know, we have an exciting project bubbling away - a learning resource for primary schools which uses the classroom's interactive whiteboards to improve the delivery of schools’ music curriculum. This clever software tool will help primary teachers with little musical expertise to teach music to an ambitiously high level.
We have been shocked by a new trend to stop or take a break from music lessons in order to concentrate on GCSE and A level exams. In our 28 year history we have never before seen pupils leave, take a term off or cut back on Saturday sessions in order to go to school for revision or to stay at home revising.
We're looking for VIOLIN BRASS WOODWIND and GUITAR teachers to complete a ONE YEAR PLACEMENT - Sept 2019 - July 2020 - with an offer of an ongoing teaching position on successful completion of the DaCapo Initial Certificate.
DaCapo friends, parents, and teachers recently came together to celebrate the school’s adult and teenage musicians at the ‘2019 Big Performance’.
The audience enjoyed a variety of pieces from the teenage and adult students, including pieces by Bach, Davy Graham, David Bowie, The Beatles, Gotye, The White Stripes, Frank Bridge and Mahler.
The evening was concluded with a rousing version of The William Tell Overture, split into sections across groups.
After several months of work behind the scenes, we are happy to welcome you to our new website.
In these sparkling new web pages you’ll find important information on term dates, course details and information on our teacher training courses. We’ll also keep you posted on DaCapo’s latest news and upcoming events.
Marketing Manager Chloe Lyons, who developed the new site, explained our aims for the project:
