

Josh Brierley
Teacher. Trombone
Josh is a trombonist and educator who studied at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama and Chetham’s School of Music. He teaches with Hertfordshire and Camden Music Services and also privately and is pleased to have joined the DaCapo traineeship programme. Josh also regularly works for the National Youth Orchestra (NYO) - leading and co-leading workshops across the country and he has worked for other educational organisations such as the Glasshouse International Centre for Music in Newcastle and the Centre for Young Musicians in London.
As a versatile performer, Josh has worked with organisations such as the Brixton Chamber Orchestra, the Docklands Sinfonia amongst others. He was a trombonist in the NYO, and previously was principal Euphonium with the National Youth Brass Band. He has worked with conductors such as Gianandrea Noseda, Jonathon Heywood, Bramwell Tovey and more, and can be heard on film soundtracks such as Welcome to the Fishbowl (2025). Across other genres, Josh has performed with musicians such as Norma Winstone, Jean Toussaint, Dave Douglas and more. He also is a founder member of APOLLO BRASS, a London-based pops Brass Band.
Josh is also an avid arranger, and has been fortune enough to write for organisations such as Classic FM, the NYO, the BBC NOW, the Royal College of Music, Allman Brown, members of the Beethoven Orchester, Bonn and more. His work has been performed at venues such as Royal Festival Hall, the Stoller Hall, and Spice of Life, the Guildhall School of Music and Drama and more. He also writes for his own projects, which includes a Bandeoke Project and collaborates as a co-writer for APOLLO BRASS.
