Our Saturday Music Centre goes online for Summer term

The launch of ‘DaCapo at Home’ - a new way of working

The sudden closure of schools and our Saturday Music Centre brought us new challenges. The DaCapo staff team and teachers have risen to these challenges amazingly well. They’ve dedicated huge energy and commitment to developing a range of online lessons that will support DaCapo students to continue learning and enjoying music from home. We would like to thank the fantastic DaCapo team for their dedication, commitment and imagination, especially Neil, Dan and Will who have worked incredibly long hours. We know that they are not some of the people saying ‘we don’t know what to do with ourselves in lockdown’!

After many phone calls, Zoom meetings and hours in front of the camera we are pleased to launch ‘DaCapo at home’ - a set of online lessons for DaCapo pupils of all ages and all abilities.

What to expect this term

One-to-one instrumental lessons are being taught on Zoom by our wonderful teachers who have all undergone training in teaching online (this includes extra safeguarding training). Current students will keep the tutors that they know well and these weekly lessons will enable them to keep connection and momentum in their lessons.

As well as one-to-one instrumental lessons we are providing ensemble sessions for twenty different music groups, from Toddler music to Adult Chamber music; and ten different musicianship sessions. Alongside this, lesson packages include films, concerts and recordings which enhance and compliment the music lessons.

How you will receive your lessons

A bespoke package of lessons is sent out to Saturday Music Centre students every Saturday morning. That way you can choose to keep Saturday as your day of music if that suits your routine, or you can access them throughout the week, finding a time that suits your current family life.

While we can’t be together, we will also be sharing weekly 'performances' from students and teachers, nuggets of inspiration and fun from the DaCapo community to keep us connected and smiling until we can see each other again.

It’s a new way of working for everyone but we are doing everything we can to keep Saturday Music Centre lessons running smoothly and joyfully for your family through this period. We’re all learning together and supporting each other. Please don’t hesitate to get in touch with anything you’d like to talk about.
