Liz Menezes
Senior Teacher. Violin
Liz studied violin with Roy Gerrard (who was taught by Leonard Hirsch). She studied at St John’s College, Oxford, graduating with an MA Hons in Classics and French; at Trinity College of Music where she gained a PGCE and an MMus; and at the Poor School where she completed the two year acting training. As a professional singer, with Carl Rosa Opera, Charles Court Opera, Minotaur Music Theatre and others, she has performed in Australia, New Zealand, USA, Canada, Ireland, France and all over the UK. She is leader of the Aspidistra Drawing Room Orchestra.
Liz has been working with DaCapo since 1998, taking one to one lessons and ensembles at the Saturday Centre, and teaching violin at a number of primary schools; she has also played the violin in a number of DaCapo performances. The training and experience she has received at DaCapo has helped to support her in her busy private teaching career, working in many schools in North London, with individuals, small groups and whole classes, and running choirs and orchestras.
