Taro Bariquelo

Taro's musical journey began with drum lessons at the age of 5 while living in Brazil. By the age of 13, he co-founded a Rock band called LDF in Singapore, performing in pubs across the country. His love for jazz ignited at the age of 11, when he joined the Ellington jazz band at his school in Singapore. This passion led him to further his musical education by participating in the Junior Jazz course at the Royal Academy of Music and joining the Thames Youth Jazz Orchestra here in London. Coming from a mixed background, being half Japanese and Brazilian, Taro's life has taken him through various countries, including Brazil, Japan, Hong Kong, Singapore, and finally the UK, where he settled in 2019.

Having completed his sixth form at Tiffin School in London, he is currently pursuing his BMus in Jazz at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama.
